These were mostly written on—and work well on—the mandolin, but live within the very general category of “fiddle tunes.” A few particular favorites are highlighted.

Fishamble Street. D modal reel, 2005. A strange little tune that floated around nameless for a while until I came across a street name in Dublin that seemed appropriate for it.
The White Tomb. A minor jig, 2005. Written after reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
January 11th. E major reel, 2002. A birthday tune for Miriam.
The Christmas Reel. C major reel, 2001. Written at—you guessed it—Christmas time.

The Queen of the Fairies. G minor hornpipe, 1999. My mom picked the name for this one.
The Leonard and Kathleen Boone Waltz. D major waltz, 1998. Written for my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary, June 27, 1998.
The Cat and the Christmas Tree. A major reel, 1997. A tune for our cat, Bast, and her annual rituals.
Little Babosa. F major jig, 1997. For my first car, a 1971, banana-slug-yellow VW Super Beetle.
The Trip to Kalamazoo. B minor reel, 1996. My first tune, written in Kalamazoo, MI.
